Hi, I’m Damilare, a Bàtá dance choreographer from Nigeria.

My work explores the rich traditions of Yorùbá Dance culture through Bàtá dance, using movement as a language of storytelling, identity and connection. I am passionate about preserving indigenous dance practices while reimagining them for contemporary audiences. Through choreography, teaching, and performance, I work with both Deaf and hearing dancers, exploring how movement transcends sound to create an inclusive artistic experience. My practice celebrates dance as a living expression of culture.

“ Dance is a Religion that everyone can practice. ”
