My Deaf Inclusive Dance Experience

My professional journey in deaf-inclusive dance began in 2021 with the Deaf Can Dance crew of the Seams Deaf Pro Foundation, founded by James Samuel, whom we fondly call Ames. However, my collaborative journey with deaf dancers dates back to 2016, thanks to Ames’ introduction and support.

For me, deaf-inclusive dance goes beyond choreography; it is about communicating movement, emotions, and stories without words. Working with Kunle Omotesho (K Dance), the choreographer of the Deaf Can Dance crew, has also been a valuable learning experience. This journey continues to challenge me to think beyond verbal communication, embrace diverse forms of expression, and create a space where dance becomes a language we can all share.
